Late Term and Child Loss

Results...

So as i said yesterday that i had an doctors appt today..I seen my high risk doctor and he gave me results abt my ARIA's death that my ob ddnt give me at my 4 week checkup which im upset abt..My ob had me thinking that aria passed from a cord accident and told me there was no infection in the placenta and said they cldnt find anything when they did the autopsy..My high risk doctor said that there WAS in fact inflomation/infection in the placenta, which cldve occured either before or after birth and also that when they did the autopsy, there was bleeding in the brain and in her lungs..She had a rare blood disease call Hemophilia..which can be inherited..when he said that a light bulb came on bc my aunt (moms younger sister) had that as a child! So this cldve been the possible death of my baby girl..after my appt,i was sent to do some bloodwork and get my chromosomes checked..Me and dh are both perfectly healthy,so the high risk doctor said its possible that our chromosomes together cldve worked against each other..In the next couple of weeks, i have to have a meeting with an ''hematologist'' to get some test ran..If this is what it is then my doc said there meds i can take and ill be monitored more closely then i was before if im to get pregnant again..But i was upset bc before they said i had to wait 90 days before ttc again and that was 2 months ago..they said we cld start ttc in april which was PERFECT seeing that thats when im the most fertile in mid april/early may butu now theyre saying wait 3-4 months before getting pregnant again :( .. i understand that bc we want to find out exactly whats wrong but im sad bc i have to wait and its already not easy for me to get pregnant..If i miss this peroid to get preg in april,i basically have to wait all the way until next year april/may to gt pregnant again..Im glad we possibly figured out the problem but not at the expense of my aria's life..

Re: Results...

  • So glad that you are finally getting answers even if they were different than what they originally thought. I don't have any experience with hemophilia but wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and hope that the additional tests will shed more light on your plans to move forward.

  • Glad to hear you might have some answers, and I totally am stressing about having to wait too.

Why would you have to wait a whole year until April? I have PCOS and need help to get pregnant, so maybe you are just speaking if you wait for it naturally, but I was just curious.

    TTC since May 2011
Provera x3 late 2011, no natural response. (Previous BCP for 12 years).
     Dx PCOS April 2012.
    Clomid x 4 - no response.
First FSH/Ovidrel cycle early Aug 2012 - 18 days of injections, slow growth, erratic estrogen levels, triggered Aug 21st.
BFP Sept 4th and Sept 7th!
     7wk US Sept 28th - triplets!
Perfect triplets lost at 20 weeks due to incompetent cervix. Allison Grace, James Alexander and Colin Gregory forever in our hearts!
    IVF #1 10/11/13 -  canceled before retrieval.
    IVF# 2 11/28/13 - retrieval on Turkey Day! Hyperstim - no transfer
    FET #1 2/4/14 - miscarriage @ 9 weeks (Trisomy 6)
FET #2 6/8/14 - healthy normal baby! Due date 2/25/15

I'm a bit confused.  Hemophilia is a genetic condition linked to an X-chromosome recessive trait.  It's not something you can get over; it's not something you can only have as a child, and it's not something you can stop from transmitting to your children without genetic manipulation.  Because it's X-recessive and females have two x chromosomes, it is very very rare for a female to be anything but a carrier (you and your husband would both have to be carriers, and if your husband did have an affected x chromosome, he would have hemophilia).

I would clarify that that's what your doctor meant; and if he insists that your daughter had hemophilia, I'd get a second opinion, especially if your husband doesn't exhibit any traits of the disorder.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

About 1/3 of people with hemophilia did not get it from either parent. It can be a spontaneous mutation. It can also be diagnosed in adults in rare instances of the condition is mild. I know there's a similar disorder that occurs equally in males and females also
