I tried to search and couldn't find any other posts about this, but I apologize if this is asked a lot. I have a call into my midwife, but in the meantime, I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with taking doxycycline while breastfeeding. I got diagnosed with a sinus infection yesterday at a walk-in clinic. She wanted to prescribe penicillin, but I am allergic so she went with doxycycline. I took the first does without thinking about it, but then I realized that she didn't ask me if I was nursing just if I could possibly be pregnant. I'm only taking it for 10 days and everything I've read online (about tetracycline, a relative of doxycycline) is that the real danger starts with use over 3 weeks. My DD is 17 months and nurses anywhere from 3-5 times a day, if that helps at all.
Has anyone taken doxycycline with a doctor's approval? I will ask my midwife to prescribe me something else if she feels uncomfortable. Thanks in advance for any replies!
