The end of BFing?

DS is almost 22 month and about a month ago or so I decided to stop BFing. Please understand that my reasons for doing so is not what I'm here to post about, and I know you'll respect that, but I felt I needed to be clear about that. So I started to do it gradually and never refusing just more on the don't offer approach for daytime, I did do a modified Dr. Gordon's method for night time, since I'm in school almost every night DH has to put him down and that has helped at lot. It's been three full days without BFing, he did ask yesterday morning and rather than lingering in bed to nurse like we used to I got us up and offered him milk, he fussed for a minute but then he was fine.

My questions is, does this mean we are done? Should I expect regressions? If he does ask is it ok to refuse? TIA for your insight.

I can't respond to your questions - my LO is just 6 months yet.  But I wanted to say that you breastfed for 22 months and that's amazing!  I hope no one on here would give you grief for stopping.

It's okay to refuse and give comfort/food in other ways. Just like you'll do for the rest of his childhood! It's just not okay to ignore a child that's hungry and upset. I'd say you're doing a great job.

Congrats on bf-ing 22 months. That's great.

I was done after 3 days. DS1 thought it was over. He did ask occasionally and I just reminded him my boobs were broken and no more milk. He didn't get upset just accepted it. He was 18 months so was eating drinking well.

I'm looking forward to being done with DS2! It's great to bf but nice to have more freedom! GL!

He might ask again but if you are ready to be done totally fine to offer an alternative.  Don't feel like you have to defend your decision to wean  and besides 22 months is awesome!!

Thank you ladies! Thank you for your insight and your encouragement. In my experience moms IRL can be judgemental, and I've encounter the "gross you are still BFing a toddler" and "aww poor kid you should've let him self wean". I knew you guys are cool.

He did ask for nap yesterday and I distracted him with milk and snuggles. For bedtime I was here last night so I put him to bed and he didn't even asked!

Awesome job! I have no advice however since we're not done, but I commend you for BFing 22 months!
