Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Moving Out!

SO yesturday my fiance and i decided to move our almost 9 month old son to the den so we could have our room back. It didnt go so well. He also has a bit of a stuffy nose which i believe is why he kept waking up. We put the humidifier on and everything but he jsut wouldnt stay asleep. I was wondering when you decided to move your child out of the bed room. thanks!! :)

Re: Moving Out!

  • We are in the process of that now. It's been difficult. DD wakes up and nurses 3-4 times a night still so her sleeping with us was easier. Now, since she is so mobile, it's becoming dangerous for her. I caught her almost diving off the bed in the middle of the night. Night nursing is a lot harder when they aren't right next to you.

  • 8 weeks but we still use the video monitor. Our house is a split ranch and a pretty good size so our bedroom is really far away from the nursery. He has STTN since 7 weeks but on nights where he's teething or has a cold, I sleep in the guest room closer to him in case he needs me. It's really just for my own peace of mind though since the monitor works great.

I took my six month from Florida to Canada when she was five weeks, we returned when she was seven weeks.  I realized while we were gone she slept a lot better when my DH wasn't snoring beside her.  When we got home, I set up the monitor and placed her in her own crib.  We haven't looked back.  We do travel a lot.  When we do we do share a room, and she sleeps in her pack n play in the room with me, but other then that she is in her own room.  We have a two story house.  Our room is on the main floor and all the bedrooms are upstairs.
  • Once he started only waking up once at night to eat, so around 3.5 months.

  • She's been in her own room since five weeks. The pedi said that she should be in her own room by two months. Also, it was better sleep for all of us. I was waking up for every little sound she made. To this day, it is very hard for me to sleep in the same room as her. She's also a light sleeper so it's always really rough when we have to.

  • I kept DD in our room for far too long. It was Christmas week that we finally transitioned her to her own room and BOY was it difficult. She was about 7.5 months at the time. Honestly, it took about 3 weeks for her to start sleeping well again. But, it will happen so hang in there! Everyone kept telling me that we would all sleep better once we made the transition and I will agree. For our family, it was best for everyone.
