I just recently found out I am having a girl and finding the right girl name seems to be a homework assigment that I just can't finish.
I love the name Briella but Brielle seems more popular with my family. Which do you prefer? BTW her last name begins with an R.
And also I need MN help, you guys can have a free for all with that I have no idea where to begin.

Re: Briella vs. Brielle and MN help

I was going to say I prefer Gabriella or Gabrielle. I think if you set a nn from day one, no one will call her Gabby.
I think I am slow this morning and need more coffee but you are naming her Gabriella/Gabrielle? And the question was for potential nn's? If so, I still like the nn Briella better and the formal name Gabriella.
Oh. Disregard previous post.
Not sure if Briana is your name IRL, but I think Briella is really close to your own name if the answer to that is yes.
So by default, I would go with Brielle.
Good Luck!

Brielle Katherine

Yes, my name is Briana but either way if it was Brielle or Briella I like her name to be bri because that's my nickname
This.
I don't like the 'Gabi' part that's why it's Brielle nn would be Bri
Are you worried that you may both end up going by "Bri" as people will invariablly shorten her name to the nn "Bri" also if you name her Brielle or Briella? That's why I like the idea of using Gabriella or Gabrielle. It gives you the option of her nn (or shortened name) being Brielle or Briella and if you're wanting her name to also honor (not sure if that's the right word) your name too, you still have the "bri" sound in there. Plus, if she doesn't want to share the "Bri" nn someday, she can go by Gabrielle or Gabriella. Hope that makes sense and hope I understood what you're going for!
I just wanted the Briella or Brielle. I like the meaning of the name more then anything, that's why I chose it. I wanted her nn to be 'bri' like me because I thought it was cute, maybe it's corny lol I just don't like the 'Gabi' part.
Yeah, that's corny but I think it's cute.

This doesn't make sense to me. You say you like the meaning of the name, but neither Briella or Brielle are stand-alone names. They are both derivatives of Gabriella. And Gabrielle itself is the feminine version of Gabriel, which means "Man of God." So is that the meaning you like so much?
My thoughts exactly
Well Gabrielle or brielle translates into just a female version of Gabriel like you said so the meaning of Gabriel doesn't transfer to the female version or in that case it would be 'Woman of God' Gabriella or briella means God is my strength.......so yes these are the meaning that I like so much. Though I am leaning more towards brielle.
I like Brielle Marie...that's cute.
