I have my BBA in Marketing and my MBA without a concentration. I don't necessarily use the Marketing aspect for my job but having the MBA does negate some of the extra years I would have needed as experience to get to my pay grade so that helps. Also it helps if I need to or want to become certified in my field (not currently required but something I am expecting eventually).
H is really trying to push me to go on and become a lawyer - NOT something I am interested in at all but he's been doing research and I told him I would consider it. I'd rather not have the loans I currently have and get more but he said we would figure it out. Who knows.
You and/or your H should do some research into the job market for law school grads. My brother is a recent law school grad and it is pretty dismal. My BIL is a lawyer and always says that if you like doing anything other than law you don't want to go through law school and being a lawyer. He says he knows too many people who just went to law school because it seemed like something to do.
I would absolutely, positively NOT go to law school if you are not interested. The market is saturated with attorneys who became attorneys just because it sounded like a good plan. And many of the people I know who really thought they absolutely were going to love being a lawyer hate it or don't even use their JD. In a different economy, a JD might be a good thing "just to have," but not currently.

I have a BA in Spainsh Lit and Sociology and a Juris Doctorate.
Well...this is embarrassing, everyone went to college.
Right after high school, I joined an organization called ywam. I spent a year with them, traveling and doing various mission trips. I spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica where I actually met my husband (he was in the same organization, based out of a different state). Later in the year I spent 6 weeks in Thailand. Afterwards I moved to Wisconsin to be with my boyfriend at the time, we got married, moved to Texas, had a baby, and just moved back to Wisconsin. I never wanted to go to college. There was never anything that I wanted to pursue.
Please, don't be embarrassed. #1 you got to have some amazing experiences and went places that I will probably never go. #2 I am a firm believer in the fact that college is not for everyone, and if it wasn't for you, that is completely okay. We seem to have this mind set nowadays that everyone should go to college just for the experience. And have tens of thousands in debt just for funsies? You did the smart thing for you.
