Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Rough Night with Cold

My 4 month old has been dealing with a cold.  Last night she slept for about 2 hours and then woke up screaming.  I went in to check on her and she was still sleeping even when I picked her up.  She then stopped crying and went back to sleep while being held.  I put her back in her crib (which is elevated) and she would be fine for about 10 minutes and then it would start all over again.  Finally, I just held her and we both slept in the recliner.  Of course my arm fell asleep and when numb and I had to have DH get her.  This has been going on all day and she barely eating.  I called urgent care last night and they said since she wasn't running a fever I didn't need to bring her in and to call the pedi.  I did that this morning and he once again told me this is normal.  I don't know what to do.

  • Aw so sorry :(

I think the best thing to do when you have a sick little one is just make them comfortable. Use a humidifier, use Vics vapor rub for babies, run a hot shower for you and let them breathe in the steam in the bathroom. My LO sleeps so much better with just a humidifier in her room when she's stuffy than with anything else. It makes a world of difference for her. Yesterday she wouldn't nap at all and she had a stuffy nose. I turned the humidifier on, and an hour later she took a nap with no problem.
