DS fell flat on his face yesterday and somehow got part of his upper lip stuck in the little gap between his two front teeth. We tried lightly tugging on it to see if his lip would come free, but that didn't work. I thought that maybe once the swelling went down it would come out, but that hasn't happened either. It doesn't seem to bother him, he's eating and talking normally, but can't smile properly. Has anyone encountered this before? Should I give it another day and see if it fixes itself or call the doctor?
Re: Upper lip stuck between front teeth
Could you try putting ice on it? Or a small amount of Ibuprofen to see if it helps the swelling go down enough to make it come out? Sounds kind of crazy like something my kids would do! Or just call the pedi and ask to speak with the nurse for advice.

The doctor checked it out and was totally unconcerned about his lip. She said that when he fell the frenulum got compressed and stuck between DS's teeth and will either come out when he loses his baby teeth or may possibly (if he falls again) break off, bleed, and then he'll be fine.
