Late Term and Child Loss

Saying for angel ornament

My Annabelle's angelversary is coming up at the end of this month and I want to do something beyond celebrating with the family. I just spoke to the woman on the bereavement committee at the hospital where she was delivered and I have decided that I want to make simple angel ornaments to put in the memorial boxes that the families take home. I also want to attach a piece of paper to them that lets other loss parents know that they are not alone. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to say? Also, would you think it would be okay to say that it was made in honor of my daughter? I want it to be of comfort so I want to make sure that it is worded just right. TIA!

Re: Saying for angel ornament

  • You are absolutely amazing! Not only is this a wonderful tribute to your baby girl on her angelversary but you will be helping so many other parents who will be experiencing loss.

I will think more about this and get back to you but wanted to let you know how amazing you are for doing this!

  • I have always seen " Forever in our hearts" I like that saying I have a bracelet from the hospital when DD passed away and it said this on it. I have worn it since the day she died.

I like this as well. I was given an ornament for Christmas with this too and our daughter's marker at the cemetery will have that on it as well.

The other route is to find a short quote but I think you have to think about how raw their grief will be when they get this and others religious affiliations etc. Something more general might be better.

    I've always liked:

"There is no footprint so small that it does not leave an imprint on this world"

"Loved with a love beyond all feeling.  Missed with a grief beyond all tears."

"How very softly you tiptoed into our world, almost silently, only a moment you stayed. Oh, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts."

  • This is so extremely thoughtful of you!  What a great way to honor your daughter and help other loss parents at the same time.  I absolutely think it's OK for you to say who inspired you to make them.  I have an ornament for my daughter and it reads her name/date followed by: "Carried on an Angel's Wing to Heaven".

  • That is a truly wonderful thing you are doing.  I agree with pp's that I think there is nothing wrong with saying that it is honoring your daughter.  If anything, I feel it would help the parents know they are not alone.
