Mercy or United Hosptial??

We had our 20 week appointment today and found out that our OB is moving. She recommended a couple different OBs at our current clinic, which delivers at United in St Paul. However we are also moving from WBL to Blaine in May and she recommended a few OBs in that area as well that deliver at Mercy. The Dr. that she highly recommends was the one she used for her births as well. So my question is .. does anyone have experience at either United or Mercy that could give me some insite?

 Thanks!!

I don't have experience yet, but live in Blaine and have been going to a clinic that will deliver me at Mercy. I haven't seen many positive things on these boards about Mercy & Unity, but I really, really have liked the Allina Health System for all my medical stuff (prior to and while being pregnant) so I wanted to stay with that and so far have been very pleased with all of the nurses, doctors, etc.

Sorry just realized your said UNITED not Unity! A friend of mine delivered there and had a good experience. They are suppose to have a good cafeteria (or at least hospital-wise according to my FIL.)

Thanks for your comment .. I have read more negative then positive comments about Mercy as well, however yesterday I talked to two of my friends co-workers who have both had great experiences at Mercy and they were recent expereiences. With my OB also having had her last child there and recommending it also helps with our decision .. we are leaning towards Mercy, but we are going to tour it first. Thanks again for your comments.

If the OB is at a Blaine Allina clinic I would highly recommend him...did she mention a Dr. Wust?

I delivered at Unity, so I cannot speak to Mercy, but I would definitely go w/ Dr. Wust if that is who your OB recommended.  I cannot say enough good things about him.

OH yes!!  Their oatmeal raisin cookies are THE BEST!!! (the look on our last appointment for DS when I was carrying 6 of them out of there was priceless!) The rest of the food is GREAT too and their hours are good so after you deliver when you're hungrier than a bodybuilder after a show, YH/SO can go get you something to eat that you're actually craving!!

I didn't deliver at United, but DS spent his first week at Children's in the PICU and main floor.  They were FANTASTIC on that level and where the NICU and PICU are right there is a good thing "just in case".  They also have reserved parking in the Red Lot for when you go to L&D with cute signs "We've been expecting you!"

I have friends who've delivered at Mercy & loved it! We live in Ham Lake, I will be delivering at Maple Grove. It's where my OB delivers & I've heard great things about the hospital. I figure from where we are it'd take almost just as long to get to Mercy anyway as it will to MG & since it's where my OB's deliver it just makes sense to deliver there. Oakdale OBGyn is where I go.....

    Good luck!

United was wonderful! Birthing Center was very nice and what gave me SO MUCH piece of mind was having the state's best NICU right across the hall! We didn't need it, but I am so glad we were there just in case!
