S/O tongue ties...

Does your kiddo stick out their tongue? At what age were they doing this?

Grant doesn't stuck out his tongue but he doesn't imitate and doesn't seem to be aware of all of his body, so I never thought it was odd. Now I'm wondering about tongue ties and things!

Lucia just started sticking out her tongue on Sunday.   She just figured out it was there, and she thinks it's funny.  But before that she never did it.  I'd never thought about it before, it hadn't occurred to me she might be late at doing it.  It was funny to watch her realize it was there!

Being able to stick their tongue out doesn't necessarily mean there is no tongue tie. Many can still stick their tongue out depending on the type of tie. DS wasn't able to until after he had it revised but he still needs to relearn how to use it, hoping speech therapy can help us with that. DD had a severe tie and was able to stick it out quite far but it would go out and down unable to lift it out and up if that makes sense.

DS barely started doing this, like about a month ago. But I think its also cause he is barely getting his first tooth, and his two top ones are coming out now. I see him stick it out and move it across his top teeth cause he could feel them.

Nat was able to stick her tongue out since birth but still had a Type 2 tongue tie. It is a good idea to have an ENT or speech therapist check it if you are already seeing one!

Jackson couldn't stick out his tongue and when he nursed, he didn't suck, he chomped. When he was 3 weeks old they clipped his tongue. You should bring it up to your ped or the next doctor that you visit
