Femara - taking 10 days in cycle?

I have very irregular cycles, DH has low morphology.  We've been given a low % of conceiving on our own at this point.  Today the doctor said that we could do IVF or continue on Femara protocol, but he suggested monitoring, continuing my usual dosage and increasing 10 days/month.  If we continue unsuccessfully he'd also increase the Femara dosage.  Anyone do this?

The thought is that if I produce more eggs, there's a greater opportunity for conception to occur?  But that also raises the possibility of multiples, which he said were uncommon - but COULD happen.

I am just doing the standard cd3-7 Letrozole (generic for Femara) regimen, but I have read online a few stories of women with different Femara regimens.  So maybe it isn't totally uncommon to do 10 days, but I'm not sure.  I've heard a lot of stories of women whose doseage was increased when a lower doseage didn't do the trick.  I did 5mg the first month and it worked well, so they just kept me at that doseage.

We did 5mg TTC #1 and it worked, quickly.  Have done 5mg most cycles since May - it corrects my ovulation problem, but we aren't pregnant.
