Pregnant after 35

Question about fertility monitor

I'm 34, almost 35 and trying to ttc. This is my first cycle using a fertility monitor. Day 7- 19 (today) have been high fertility. My period is like clockwork, never missed one and comes same day every month. I'm confused as to why I haven't gotten a peak reading yet. Any advice?

Re: Question about fertility monitor

  • I had one many years ago and didn't have much luck with it. Just keep trying it's possible you haven't o'ed yet....I found using the BBT with the charts on Fertility Friend more helpful. Good luck!

  • I tried one as well in conjunction with the little happy face digital OPKs. What a waste. I never got a peak and my long irregular cycles confused it. Fortunately I managed to get pregnant without its help after just a few cycles.

  • Sometimes on the first cycle it's just getting to know you. I also had cycles where I peaked anywhere from day 19 to day 25. Whenever it said HIGH though, DH and I would DTD EOD until after Peak. HTH! (We used one for 3 months before conceiving and I'm 40).
  • I used the CBEFM for all 3 of my pregnancies, and it worked great for me.  It can take the monitor 2-3 cycles to "get to know" you.  That means you might end up with a lot of high days the first month or two (or, conversely, very few or no high days).  How long are your cycles normally?  Mine were usually 30-32 days but I have a short LP of only about 11 days, so I often wouldn't see the Peak reading until day 19-21.  I would keep using the monitor until you get a high or until your period comes.  Then start again next cycle and things should improve.  If you never see a high, it could be an anovulatory cycle.  If that happens for a few months, there could also be something wrong with the monitor.  Good luck!
