For about a month now, my babies have been taking only one nap. They wake up in the morning around 7:30 and take their nap around noon. They sleep for 2 to 2.5 hours but not more than that. Starting last week, they've been sleeping past the 2.5-hour mark, getting close to 3 hours. Yesterday I had to wake them up at 3. I'm wondering two things: 1) If your LO takes only one nap, how long is it? And 2) How long is it between the time they wake up from nap and bedtime? My kids go to bed between 7 and 7:15. I feel like letting them sleep past 3 might affect their nighttime sleep.

DD's naps - unless she is sick or something else is wrong - are almost universally 1.5hrs long, except for the month or so after she would drop a nap.
So, she gets up at 7am, naps from 2:30-4:00pm, then in bed by 7:45pm, usually asleep by 8:30pm (on a good night). Her nap used to be earlier, but she pushed it back herself (and wouldn't nap if I tried for the 1-2:30pm nap). On the days she has skipped napping entirely, she's in bed by 7pm, and usually asleep fairly quickly.
1) If your LO takes only one nap, how long is it?
On average 1.5hrs, but can be as short as 40min or as long as 3hrs
2) How long is it between the time they wake up from nap and bedtime?
Usually about 5hrs. She usually goes down at 1/1:30 and sleeps for 1.5-2hrs. She is in bed by a little after 8pm and usually falls asleep by 8:30pm. Up in the morning around 7/7:20am.
Wake up time is anywhere from 6:30-7:00
Nap around 1:00 and lasts from 2-3 hours.
Bedtime at 7:30
One nap, 2.5-3 hours. Occasionally it's only 2.
He wakes up around 6:30, and can fall asleep as early as 10:15 or 10:30. If we go run errands, I try to make sure he's asleep by 1:00.
The latest I will let him sleep is 5:00, but that's rare.
As long as he is awake by 4:00 or 4:30, he'll still go to bed pretty easily around 7:30.
Nap is after lunch. Can be as short as 2 hours to as long as 4.
Bedtime is 830ish.
Even if he is having an off day and naps late or super long, it does not affect his bedtime.
Naps about 2-3hrs, depending on the day. And wakes 4-5hrs before bedtime, he has even napped late if we're out running around and woke up as close as 3hrs before bedtime without issues falling asleep that night.
Like others, LO naps more when he's not feeling well, growth spurt, or just didn't sleep as well the night prior. So it's possible your girls need the extra rest right now for whatever reason.
I'm of the opinion you never wake a sleeping baby/child. So I let LO nap as long as he wants to, and it's never seemed to impact nighttime sleep.
This exactly!
DS wakes up 630-7 and goes down for a nap anywhere between 11 and 1. He will sleep anywhere from 45min to 2 hrs. Usually its more like1 hr.
He also goes to bed between 7-730. I find on days he takes a two hour nap, he goes to bed a tad later. If you don't want to wake them up, try putting them down a little later?
Wow - a lot of your babies get a lot of sleep! 12 hours at night plus 2-3 hour naps! Do your LOs STTN?
My DS is 16 mo and goes to bed at 7pm, up just before 6am, and naps 12pm-1:30/2pm.
I don't think there's anything wrong w/ waking from a nap if it's to maintain a healthy sleep schedule. If your LOs long naps start resulting in early wake ups or night wakings, I'd end it sooner.
