Host names on baby shower invites

Hi - just curious, when you host a baby shower, do you list the names of all the hosts on the shower invite?

I only ask because all shower (wedding or baby) that I have received or hosted, the names were on them regardless of how many hosts.  I am part of a group of 8 women that is hosting a baby shower for my SIL.  The women doing the invites just listed "Hosted by family and friends of X and Y".  I don't really care either way but it just seemed strange to me to not see the host names.  Wondering if this is another regional type of thing.

  • I don't think its strange considering there are 8 of you. That would be a lot of names to list.

  • Since so many people are hosting the party I think the way they wrote it works very well. I can not answer if it is a regional thing or not. What I have seen in the past is either no hosts listed (just the address for the party), the host if it is only 1-2 people, or the way they wrote it on your invitation if there is several people.

    Yes
  • I think lisitng out all 8 names on the invitation would end up focusing too much of the invite on the hostesses rather than the couple/mom the shower is being held for.  The way the invites were printed sounds like a much better way to handle it.

  • I've only been to a handful of baby showers, but I don't remember having "hosted by" on the invites at all.  The last one I went to (my cousin's 1 year ago) there were just RSVP's to my aunt and my other cousin. No hosted by.

I live in the Northeast. Not sure how it's done elsewhere.

  • TBH, my eyes would explode to see eight people listed as the host.  "Friends/Family" is just fine in this case.

And really, I don't think it's something that even needs to be mentioned on the invite.  Most people figure "someone else" is hosting.. certainly not the mom-to-be.. At the shower itself one of the organizers can run through the list of everyone to thank them for pitching in, providing whatever, etc.

  • Thanks - I guess it must just be something that is done within my group of family/friends to include the host names.  I don't really care either way.  I have always seen it listed towards the bottom of the invite where the RSVP stuff is listed - the names would be listed and if one of those names was collecting the RSVP's, their number/email would also be included.  It does make sense that it was done this way with 8 people - I just wasn't sure what other people have done/seen.  I have not hosted many showers but I have been to way too many!!!

Agreed.  Listing that many people would take up the entire invitation.

  • IMO, it's not a regional thing as much as it is a "holy buckets that's a lot of names" and the person who was doing the invites...  Don't let it get to you unless you're the one doing 99.8% of the work outside of the invites LOL...
