So mad at RE right now

I can probably attributemost of the rage I'm feeling to my progesterone....cuz I'm not usually one to get to worked up. But, basically, here's the deal.

I had IUI #2 on the 19th, my test day is tomorrow. At my monitoring appointment and my IUI I spoke to two different NP's about what our next step of treatment would be if this IUI didn't work. Whether we would move forward with IUI #3 with oral meds like we've been doing or if we would be moving on to injectable medications. They both said they would speak with my Dr. and portal me(we have a private email messaging system thats super convenient). Well, I never heard from them, so I just figured we'd move on to IUI #3 and keep the same protocol. Which is fine with me. Until today when I get an email from the 1st NP telling me the Dr. wants us to come in for an in person consult to decide on future treatment plans, but includes that he is out of the office this week and leaving the practice on the 19th, so we might want to start seeing the other Dr.

UM. I'm testing tomorrow! And when it's negative I'll be stopping my progesterone. Last cycle my period started the next day, so I'll be needing my Letrozole this weekend. Have I mentioned that our Dr. is 3 hours away for us??? We can't just drop everything and head up there for an inperson consult at the last minute.

I replied to her and asked if we can do an over the phone consult like NOW because I do not want to miss a cycle over this. I really am so mad and frustrated over this because it makes me feel like I wasn't an important patient. If they had emailed me about this two weeks ago we could have easily made plans. Now.... ugh.

Sorry tl:dr.

Re: So mad at RE right now

  • Ugh, that is rotten!  I would be ticked off too.  I hope she will be able to do a phone consult.  Or maybe you could just skip a consult with her altogether and just move directly on to a new RE (hopefully one that is closer)?

But more importantly, I hope you just get a bfp tomorrow and it's all a moot point.  :-)

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

    2nd Pregnancy: DS born 04/10/06.

    3rd Pregnancy: CP, 03/11.

Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

Whew. I'm glad someone validated me. After I typed it out I was thinking, boy, hope no one thinks I'm completely bonkersStick out tongue

There is no one here local for us. We would have to drive 2+ hours to be close(Tulsa, OK; Fayetteville, AR), we would have to be preapproved again through BCBS(no one in network), what a mess. Our office in KC is relatively close to my inlaws so I have a place to take Abigail and we can stay there overnight if our appts are ever close together(like this cycle). It's a huge pain, but it seems to be what we just have to deal with right now.

  • Ugh, I'm seeing an RE that is about 3 hours away as well. It's so frustrating sometimes!

I agree and hope that by tomorrow it will be a moot point. Hopefully they will do a phone consult if needed.

TTC#2 since December 2010. HSG and bloodwork all good. SA results not so good. Unmedicated IUI#1 6/19/2012 - BFN
  • Ouch, three hours for both of you!  That is such a long commute!  Our commute to the RE is about 40 minutes, and I thought that was bad.  Luckily, we are able to use a clinic close to our house for meds and blood draws (was just there this morning!).

Oh well, so much for finding a closer RE for you.  Still keeping my fingers crossed for your POAS tomorrow, though!
