we're thinking of names, just brainstorming. if we have a boy or two boys (twins!!) we want an Irish name to show our heritage. Here's the list that we have so far. what do you think? i should say we are in the UK not the US, where these types of names arent bullied so much.
Torin
Rafferty (nickname Raffi)
Padraig (nickname Paddy)
Cian
Lorcan
Diarmaid
Re: Irish names for boy
I like them all except Diarmaid. I know it's stupid, but I read "dairy maid" every time I see this name. Are you open to something a bit more Anglicized in the Dermot/Desmond/Declan vein?
If I were naming twins from this list, they'd probably be Padraig and Lorcan.

I wouldn't say those names would necessarily be "bullied" as you put it, but they're more likely to be pronouced properly in the UK than the US.
Of those you listed, I like Cian.
Seamus? Declan? Carrick? Ciaran? Malcolm? Cormac? Eamon?

we thought about it but we don't really like the more anglicized ones. we want it to be Irish and sound Irish!! Besides, not a fan of Declan in general. This list is the names that we like!

I love Rafferty and Padriag! Great names!
What about Eamon? That's another longtime favorite Irish name of mine.
