Annoyed

My brother is getting married in two weekends and I am a bridesmaid, which I am super happy about because his fianc? has actually become a good friend.

However, I had to order a bridesmaids dress in September and its just now here! And to make matters worse I had my DS in June so my body was not back to normal by the time I had to have the fitting.

Well low and behold the dress is now way too big and I have to scramble to get in altered in time. I am so annoyed at the store lady because I told her over and over again that I would be size x because I've always been a size x and I knew I could get my body back. Annnnd it's going to cost me another $40 to get it altered. I feel like I should invoice that lady for telling me I would not be able to squeeze into the size all my dresses are. End rant.

I hear you. It's so annoying.

Unfortunately, BM dresses have almost no seam allowances, so letting out isn't an option. $40 is dirt cheap to have a gown taken in; usually they chrage that for a mere hem.

I sometimes design and sew bridal parties- maids especially because I can accommodate a BM who is either pg or newly pp. I don't do alterations on other people's dresses but I get called a lot because the salons soak people and people think I'll do it cheaper. I had a friend call me about taking in a prom dress last week. A small bodice alteration and hem are costing her $85.

Wow, that's crazy cheap! I had to scramble to find a place that would do it for less than $80 for a friends wedding, and the cheapest I found was still $55.

Cost aside, that is annoying, but they probably get a ton of women who say they'll definitely back to their pre-preg weight who end up needing new dresses or crazy alterations.  Sorry you have to deal with the inconvenience, though:-/
