gag reflux/ throwing up solids...HELP!

My 14 month old will not transition off her Purees. aside from puffs and cheerios if I offer her any solids the second it's in her mouth she either will gag or sometimes projectile vomit almost instantly.  I dont know if it's a texture thing or if she's just extremely picky but I dont know what to do! Anyone else experiance this and how did you get your LO to eat?

  • I'd talk to your pedi about it.  It may be something that OT (occupational therapy) can help with.

Definitely! OT was so helpful for my son's feeding issues.

  • I'm having the same issues with my 12 month old. He loves purees, especially store bought ones. :( Whenever I make him homemade food with any texture, he throws it right up. He will eat Cheerios, puffs, and even arrowroot cookies but not many other solids. We live in constant fear of throw up! Lately, I've noticed that when he has a gas bubble while eating and tries to burp, he ends up throwing up. Hubby & I decided after several times of him doing this that we need to give him extra time between bites and plenty of water during meal time.  It seems to have helped with the throwing up, but would love some advice on transitioning him to solids. It's very frustrating.

I'm glad to hear we are not alone.  She since I posted this has finally started eating pancakes in addition to her very minimal food selection. She puked and gagged the first time but after about a week of trying she finally seems to like them.  I think persistance and cheering her on as a distraction while she eats really helped.
