This may be a really silly question but how do I know if I have hard water and need a softener?

I know I have hard water because of the build up that it leaves in my shower. If you go to https://rockingreensoap.com/ they have a map that should tell you if you have hard, soft or normal water, they also sell test strips to check your specific water. I haven't used the map or strips but they are often recommended on here.

On your sinks is there white build up?  If so, you probably have hard water... if you live in the country, you're more likely to have well water and it's hard.

I don't think it's a silly question! I knew we have hard water because of where we live (looooots of limestone), and it's sort of a regional thing.
