Surgical biopsy when hoping to TTC #2

Hi ladies.

I haven't posted on this board before, but I am really hoping to find some words of encouragement or hear someone else's experience with this situation. I've read every post about biopsies in the bump's archive, probably more than once.

My DH and I are in the process of taking our diagnostic tests before going through fertility treatments again---we are both 35+.

My baseline mammogram came back showing two macrocalcifications and one clustered microcalcification in the left breast. Last week I went to a breast surgeon, and she has suggested that I do a surgical biopsy in two week to remove the microcalcification. She wants to do a surgical, instead of a needle biopsy, because the cluster is so close to my chest wall and it is so small, and I think she just wants to remove anything that could be or become cancer.

I'm just down in the dumps because I really wanted to start TTC #2 this spring or summer. And I'm also worried about what the results might be, especially if this continues on for a long time or if I'm told not to have any more children. The reactions of the few people have told recently have actually made me feel more worried and down, but by not talking to people, especially women, about my situation, I feel so isolated and even more worried.

I'm sorry.  I know this must be scary.  I had to have a mammogram in October b/c I felt a lump and when I went in, they also found clustered calcifications on both breasts.  I was a nervous wreck.  I had a two biopsies done (on the lump, and on the calcifications) and all were benign, thank god.  I go back in May for a 6 month follow up, and then am clear until I turn 40 (in 5 years).  I hope that you have similar results.  I will keep you in my thoughts.  Keep us posted.  ((Hugs))

Thanks so much for responding! Your story is helping me keep positive thoughts. And I will keep you posted. My surgery is schedule for the Monday after St. Pat's Day. ((hugs))

The surgeon was able to bump my surgery up to this coming Monday, so I will post a followup here next week, letting you know how it went.
