Baby Bullet

Hello! To anyone who has the baby bullet, do you know about how many ounces one of the little storage cups hold?  I am going crazy I've looked through the  instructions and on the  box  and cannot find that info :(

Also, any specific foods that people have found financially worth making vs. buying.  We've found bananas really easy time wise and seems worth it $$ wise. Made some apples this morning but it  took a long time and it seems like it didn't make nearly as much as we could have bought for the same $.  Interested in others opinions of what has brought savings.  Thanks!

Re: Baby Bullet

  • The cost of fresh produce is going to depend on where you live and the time of year. Where I live, a lot of fruits and veggies can be expensive in the winter.  I was able to make a large amount of baby food at a cheap price with sweet potato and butternut squash.  Bananas are cheap too.  Other things are not as cheap, but I usually buy lots of fruits and veggies anyway and I just puree a little of the things that we eat.

  • I have no idea how big the storage jars are, but I have been going crazy trying to figure it out as well so I'm glad you asked!!

I have made avocado & sweet potatoes so far with my bullet, but since DD didn't like the avocado I was worried about some other new foods too so I bought pears, apples, and peas just because I couldn't see myself putting in all effort for those and then being upset if she didn't like them! We've only tried pears and she did like them so next time I will probably make them. Our next things to try are carrots and butternut squash which I will make with the bullet.

  • 2 oz if you fill it to the white date band... about 2.5 all the way to the top.

Squash, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, frozen peaches, frozen broccoli.. all a good deal! We just buy a regular jar of musslemans natural apple sauce, it's just apples and water, no sugar or corn syrup.

  • I think the cups are 2 oz. We make apples, pears, butternut squash, peas, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes. I'm sure there are more but that's what I think of off the top of my head. Avocado, bananas are things I just make without the bullet.

Carrots, green beans and peas are probably the easiest to make becuase there is little prep. I don't only do it for the cost savings but for the taste and to limit the amount of preservative stuff he gets. He has jarred food at daycare but I think jarred baby food smells gross. Also I've mashed up chicken breasts and pork. I've made a pork roast with veges and thrown it all in the bullet to blend for DS.

  • Thank you everyone for all of the helpful info!  I looked on the baby bullet website but totally missed the spot where it said 2 ozs.  I must need some extra zz's.  It is helpful to know to look for apples in the regular grocery aisle. I hadn't thought to do that and the gerber jars seemed expensive for something so simple.  Will check that out next time we are here.  Thanks all!
  • Made avocado today... the book said that one avocado makes 8oz, and in another section of booklet it says that one avocado uses up 4 bullet containers, hence a bullet container holds 2 oz.

    LOVE the baby bullet!

  • I like it because I know literally the only things in LOs food is water & the fruit/veggie, no preservatives. Plus I often buy the fruits for myself so sometimes I just use leftovers to puree for her. I find it quick & easy. Love mine.
