Cloth Diapering

Diaper Pail

I bought 2 of these trash cans last night-one for a diaper pail, the other for a clothes hamper. (Both will have liners.) do you think I need to take the lid off the one for diapers, or will it be able to breathe enough as the lid swings and ones not stay air tight. I had planned on removing it, so it really doesn't matter-I just want what er will work best.

(Sorry for the huge picture-I can't figure out how to shrink it on my iPad. )

ETA: Or no picture. WTF, its there when I edit it. Here's a sucky, non clicky link:

Re: Diaper Pail

  • I've always used a can with a lid, are you not supposed to?

I was told it was better for the smell...it lets it air out? Maybe I'm wrong...

  • If you don't have trouble with mold or smell using a lid is fine.  But if you start having trouble with either, just remove the lid.  It really helps with smell, I promise!

  • I have a lid because it keeps my dogs out of the poopy diapers but it's on loose, there is a vent in the top, we wash every other day, plus the fact that it gets opened about 8 times a day to add a diaper. We haven't had any issues with stink so it doesn't seem to be an issue for us so far.
