I'm trying to decide between Jordan and SSH. I live in Plymouth so Jordan would be convenient but I don't know what the reputation is. I have heard great things about SSH. I'm not sure which to choose. Any feedback would be great! Thanks.
I didnt deliver at either but I did at my local hospital, Norwood. I have to say there was something extremely nice having the hospital be 5 minutes away rather than 30. If I needed to go for an extra test or went into labor I knew that it was just right there and that was one stress taken away. Both are community hospitals and I think you would be well taken care of at both.

I delivered at SSH and it was wonderful! The staff was amazing and it was so nice having the concierge desk and everything. Even the food was good! The only problem I had was that they don't have a childbirth class there, so we had to take one elsewhere. Otherwise, it was perfect!
I haven't heard any negatives about Jordan. I also saw in the local paper the other day they re-did their maternity ward. That said..I delivered both my children at SSH. I didn't find the distance to be that bad (I was in Plymouth when my second was born). I had a good experience with #1 so when #2 came along, it was a no brainer for me to stick with SSH despite Jordan being much closer.
Have you gone and toured both places to see what they're like? Maybe you can get a better feel for them by doing that.
I do not have one negative thing to say about ssh maternity department. I went in for a c section immediately following a dr check up baby was breech and I was post due date. I got personal care and literally felt like I was their only new mother. Food was good, everything was clean, staff from all departments was friendly. I was there for 5 days and if I had to stay longer I wouldn't have minded. The care was that good!
I also live in Plymouth, and I delivered at Jordan. It was a great experience, and they were in the process of finishing remodeling the rooms when I was there in September. Very nice staff, and their lactation consultant, Cindy, is amazing.
I'm originally from Plymouth and am familiar with both hospitals. I have a sister that delivered twins at SSH, and a friend from Plymouth that delivered at SSH, both were very pleased with their experiences there. I was actually just talking about both hospitals the other day with my cousin's wife who's expecting baby number two. They delivered their first at Jordan and said they'll never go back, they're delivering at SSH with baby number two, good luck! Hope this helps.
I also live in plymouth and we had our baby girl at Jordan. We had a complication free pregnancy, part of the reason we chose Jordan. The main reason was I really liked that everything was in the same room. After you give birth you don't have to relocate and it's all on one floor. So your baby doesn't need a tracking device. We plan on using Jordan for baby #2 due late summer.
