Working Moms

Do you love your son's winter coat?

Looking for a new winter coat for DS.  He wants something red.  I want something that is warm, not too bulky and that I can put in the washing machine.  I was thinking of doing a Patagonia down sweater but I am afraid I won't be able to wash it easily.

Any recommendations?   Thanks!

  • I LOVE this Nautica coat.  It zips up to the neck and then has a velcro closing over the zipper so that DS can't pull the hood off.  It's warm and cozy but not too bulky and I'm pretty sure it's machine washable.

  • We love the coat my mom got DS. It Arizona brand. It has a zip off hood. It also has an inner liner that can zip out, so it's really like 3 jackets in 1. He can wear the inner liner alone the outer shell alone or the two pieces together. With both pieces together it's super warm but still not bulky. It is also completely machine washable. Highly recommend.

  • Not a recommendation for type of coat per se... But my DH and I were in Marmot yesterday and they are having a buy one, get one for 1 sale... So you might be able to score!

  • We always get a coat from Children's Place. They have a zip out fleece liner that we get a lot of use out of. And the whole thing washes well.

  • Lands end coats! The squall jacket isn't bulky and holds up great. DS2 is wearing one in its third season and it still looks new. And I'm pretty sure they have red. :)

  • I don't know eddie bauer kids selection well but I have an eddie bauer down coat that is machine washable that I love & I know for adults they have a lot of styles & colors...

Only problem is the end of the season! Good luck!

  • We have had great luck with targets 3in1 systems. Like above with a zip out liner and can wear together or 2 separate coats. One year my mother in law bought it at Carter's and zippers were breaking and around snaps.

My mother got me oshkosh coats on clearance in south Carolina fOr 9 for next year. Hopefully they are good.
