Britax anyone? Disappointing color options

So the color I registered for on the B Safe has been discontinued.  According to Amazon and the Britax website infant carriers are only currently offered in black, red, and cow print.  None of these seem like what I would want  for a girl. Even green or blue would be fine, but I love the brand and have registered for all the accessories, stroller, etc.

Does anyone know anything about Britax?  Are they coming out with new stuff soon?  Or should I scrap it all and start over (but I really don't want to do that, as it took me FOREVER to settle on this stuff....).

Let me know if you have info!

Re: Britax anyone? Disappointing color options

  • Was it the tan color that was discontinued? That's what color we look at that was at Babies R Us.. Darn. I didn't want the black (or red or cow)!!! I think Britax is awesome though and I'd stick with black if I have to.

  • We had a cover custom made with our first. Its easier than finding one that meets safety but looks good. That's a bummer though! I'd be disappointed too.

    It was the kiwi :(

I didn't even know they HAD kiwi. Aw man..

  • I don't see what the big deal is.  It just sounds very superficial to me.  No one really pays attention to what your child's carseat looks like. Just my opinion!  We have the Britax Marathon, and although we know it's good quality and gets very high ratings for safety, we haven't been too happy with it.  It's big, bulky, heavy, and it seems to be uncomfortable for LO.  We've been happier with our Graco models (we had the infant Snugride and then we moved up to a bigger model after she hit 20 lbs).  And fyi, the prints are much cuter on the Graco carseats.  :)

  • I chose the britax in the sandstone which is the beige color. I checked it out in BRU and it was very lightweight and easy to manuever.

  • The problem with picking things out early and registering early is that the companies tend to discontinue them. They change colors, details, or sometimes just cancel it and then reissue it so it's "new." Most companies do this during their spring and fall lines. If you wait a few weeks, they will probably come out with something new for spring.

You might have luck with searching on other sites, to order the one you wanted.

Well, no crap its superficial? Are we never ever allowed to have any personal preferences?

I do too! I really want the maxi cosi prezi in black. Gorgeous! Unfortunately, it is just way to hot for baby.

Nothing wrong with being superficial when it comes to an item you will be spending 150 or more dollars on!

  • You won't use the infant carrier for all that long.  We use ours for about 4-5 months some folks use theirs longer but still not all that much longer.  If you really like the brand and have picked out accessories then perhaps you can 'settle' on the carrier knowing you'll use all the other stuff a lot longer.

We used inexpensive carriers but have the Britax Advocate for DS now and the Frontier for DD now.

  • They make colored covers for carseats which you could just put on and still have great plain carseat underneath. We love our britax, plus the removable covers are great bc of spills or fading from sun.

  • Everyone has been helpful and raise valid points.  I will keep it all on there and wait and see if a new line comes out this spring.  If not, I could always go for a cover. :)

Covers are convenient. However, it does void the warranty on your carseat to use one.

    https://www.britaxusa.com/support/warranty-return-policy

The use of non-Britax Child Safety, Inc. covers, inserts, toys, accessories, or tightening devices is not approved by Britax. Their use could cause this restraint to fail Federal Safety Standards or perform worse in a crash. Their use automatically voids the Britax warranty.

  • Given that you saw the cow print, I think these are this springs colors. Sorry! We are using black in NC in the summer, it's really not that hot of a carseat.

  • I would get whatever brand you liked, had the best safety ratings etc. The color doesn't matter in the slightest and I personally wouldn't pick a whole different, perhaps lesser rating carseat just because of colors.

That being said, I'm sorry they discontinued the color you liked, black works for a girl! Or, like pp's suggested, you could buy a cover for it if it's really that important to you! GL!

Sorry I did not mean to quote you. :)  I like the green because it was gender neutral.  Oh well.  We will make it work! I just can't believe they only offer these things in two colors!

This.  We got a cute green elephant infant car seat from graco that we used for about 6 months until DD outgrew it, then we got the britax.  Once you switch to a convertible seat you won't care what it looks like because it just stays in the car.

  • DS turns one year old on Wednesday and we just switched to a Britax convertible last week. He still fit comfortably in the infant seat. It all depends on the size of your kid. Personally color doesn't matter to me, I based my opinion on safety and which seat will allow him to stay rear facing the longest.

  • You could dress up black or red to be girly.  It's an awesome brand, but maybe colors don't matter to me like they do to others....

  • FWIW, as a car seat technician, I can tell you aftermarket car seat covers, strap covers, head supports, bundle me's, etc all void the warranty on your seat. It is not tested with the seat, so there is no way of knowing how a seat will perform in an accident with added products.

I thought the kiwi was a nice color, so I am surprised they discontinued it already.
