Babies on the Brain

1st week of the pill! Yay!

Hello,

I am 32 years old and my husband and I just decided to have our first baby. This is my first week off the pill. Even tho I am excited, I am also a little nervous.

Anyone else out there is just now starting to TTC?

I thought it would be fun and helpful to share our excitement and concerns, as we go through this journey together.

  • I am so glad to have found this site and this post. I don't have any real close friends who I can talk to about this but we just started trying to get pregnant as well. My husband and I have been married about 3 1/2 years. I feel really ignorant on some of these forums as I don't know all the ins and outs, abbreviations, etc. I'd love to be able to have some friends out there to go through this with. I know there are going to be ups and downs...and I worry that we might have problems conceiving. I went off the pill in October but we didn't actively "try" until about a month ago.

  • I too am looking to meet some people with common TTC interests at heart. My husband and I have been trying for just one cycle, so we're just beginning this journey. I have had my IUD out for just a month- I had the ParaGuard, the one with no hormones- so I should be fertile right away.. crossing my fingers! Good luck ladies!

  • Yes I hope we can go through this together. I have seen some vicious comments on other threads so am not sure of how much I will post on this webpage but maybe we can email?   I was on the pill for 9 years but have now been off of it for a few months. My husband has been away for a few weeks..I am anxious to start REALLY trying again when he gets back.

  • Welcome ladies.

As I mentioned this is my first week off the pill and I am currently ovulating. So fingers are crossed!
These are a few things I have done:
I downloaded an ovulation calendar to help me keep track I also marked my calendar when my last period was so i know when to test.

But with all those tools, remember to have fun and take the pressure off. Stress will not help.
  • Try the one that isn't HTML- I had the same problem earlier.

  • I too have seen some of those comments. it makes me scared to really get too attached to these forums. Some of the veteran users on here seem to be a bit territorial.

  • Don't be afraid to post. Yes you'll get a few bad apples that may try to burn you, but be smart about your posts. I'm on the 2nd tri board and there's about 2-3 posts a day of the same issue by different people. That and expect to get burned if you share an unpopular emotional stance.

Like, one mom shared how upset she was to find out she was having a certain gender, but really wanted the other. She got burned because she had miscarried previously and people didn't understand why she wasn't grateful just to have a child. Make sense?

And good luck TTC. Dh and I got off the pill in June 2012 and it took us till October to get a BFP. Have fun with it.

We aren't territorial, but we don't abide stupidity. Take some time to lurk and get to know the board. Let us get to know you by posting in other people's threads. The ladies on the board are amazing and supportive. We have been through a lot together, and are always looking for new people. Just don't ask our advice, and then get all pissy when we don't tell you what you want to hear. Trust me when I say we have seen/been through it all.

  • This is my first week off the pill in almost nine years!

I don't ever post on here, but maybe now I'll start.

I told my husband I wanted to stop taking the pill, and he wasn't very excited about it, so we aren't exactly TTC just yet, but I wanted to see what happened to my body since I have been on the pill since I was 19.

  • Good sucssess to you. i also have been on the pill since I was 19. I've been married for 13 years, and this is our first tome TTC. I am believing that everything will be ok. I have been experiencing a little bloating, but i have no idea if it relates. we have been TTC since day 1 off the pill, which has been a little over one week now. I have purchased some cheap tests from amazon. My friend used it and she recommended. I figure I will start using those in the end of week 2. I mean I paid 18 for 21 tests, I am going to have some fun with it. Lol. Off course as soon as I get a positive in one of those I will invest in a "real" one. Any way, just have fun and don't stress .
  • I'm turning 33 this month and we just started ttc our first.  I have endometriosis and had surgery two years ago.  Today I'm one day late and haven't tested yet.  I'm trying to be patient so I don't get any negatives. We've been married for 13 years and have been on BC 13 years so I don't really know how things are going to progress.  It's all very exciting and scary at the same time.  I'm scared that it's not going to work and I'm scared that it is going to work.  I'm new around here but I'm happy to have someone to talk to and ask questions.  Let's hope this works!
  • Good success to you, I find my self on the same boat. It has been 2 wells now and I don't want to start testing for another 2 weeks! Fingers are crossed!
  • Friday was my most fertile day, per MFF. Trying not to get my hopes up but this kind of sucks! I don't want to get my hopes up so I try no to think about it too often but it's hard!
