So now that we've been in our house a little over a month I think it's time we start thinking about painting the walls. I'm so bad at color choices. For the main living areas I want something neutral, on the lighter side but different. In the kids bathroom I want something that is cool but not too out there. In our room and bathroom I'm wanting something calming. Ready set go!
Re: Help me pick paint colors
You have to be more specific- like "help me pick a green"
You can check out this site for color palettes. I like it. https://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/beaded-tones1
In my living area I like a beige, taupe, gray, or victorian purple.
These colors appear more muted on my screen, but as some examples:
My last living room was "Haze" by Behr https://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/33790_Behr-ICC-22-Haze and the one before that was "Majestic Mauve" by Benjamin Moore https://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/3894_Benjamin-Moore-2115-60-Majestic-Mauve#prettyPhoto
I think I would do my next living room a cream color with green and turquoise accents or a gray (maybe Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore) with purple and emerald accents.
I like to paint my bedroom green because it is my favorite color. My bedroom is Dried Chervil by Behr https://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/277559_Behr-ICC-105-Dried-Chervil
Our kitchen is small, so the exposed walls are a brick red color.
Do you have a theme for the bathroom or towels & shower curtain already picked?
I don't think it matters. I really like gray. It is a neutral.
How about one of these colors for the bathroom with a "sea" or "ocean" theme?

I have seen alot of grey colors lately! I think it is the new popular paint color right now for living rooms! I really like it, but unfortunately it wouldn't go with any of our furniture currently! When we move houses here in the next year hopefully, I am hoping we can do something with a bit of grey somewhere!
I love grey, but I also think it is a color that goes in and out of style... right now it is in. I have grey in our office and dining room (they share a wall). I don't think tan would be bad at all, as long as it is not the exact color of your flooring. I have a light tan we just painted in the living room, and our floors are a very light wood laminate. I made sure to just get something with a warm tone to it because our floors are warm toned.
We have blue in our bedroom and I love love love it. It goes really well with a lot of other accent colors. It is a little muted with a tiny hint of green, so it's not like baby blue. I would work with what you think would look bet with your furniture.
As for the kids rooms, I would go for something a little more bold, you can really have fun!
ETA: I also have green in my house, I love Earth tones, but am not afraid to pick bright ones. I think what might be a good idea for you since you are planning on painting multiple rooms is go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a color pamphlet. Where the paint samples are, they have pamphlets of maybe 3-7 colors that they think would go together. I think it would be better to pick a palette that goes in your whole house vs working room by room and hoping it flows.
