Babies: 6 - 9 Months

refusing BM?

I am an EP and since we started giving LO pureed foods about a month ago she has went from eating 6oz easy 5 times a day to only eating 4oz 5 times a day. She hasn't eaten that little since she was a month old. I always give her a bottle before her solids. She loves solids so much though. She would eat 4oz of solids if I let her. But I started limiting her to 2oz really quick when her BM intake went down. I didn't seem to make a difference at all. Is this normal? I'm about ready to let her eat all the solids she wants because it's all she seems to want to eat...

Re: refusing BM?

  • First big kudos to you for being an EP er and still doing it as that is HARD work!  Second, until around a year I would still offer bottles 20-60 min before solids.  Lastly, I wouldn't worry so much about the ounces as bm is different than formula.  Its composition changes so as a baby gets older he/she does not have to increase his/her ounces intake like they would if they were on formula.
