Croup?

think my LO has it. Barking cough, wheezing, mostly when he breathes out. Doc said it will usually run its course so there's no need to bring him in unless he has serious difficulty breathing. Anyone have experience with this? My DH is on shift at the fire department all night so I'm on my own...freaking out while watching him breathe...

Re: Croup?

  • DS1 had croup when he was younger. I had to take him to the ER because he was having trouble breathing and they ended up sending us home with breathing treatments. Just take your LO if you feel like he isn't breathing properly or just feel like something isn't right.

  • DS1 had croup. It never got to the point of breathing difficulties, it just sounded awful. We never had to take him to the ER for it, but wouldn't hesitate if he's struggling to breathe. Go with your gut.
  • Both my boys had it a few weeks ago, i made sure to keep their humidifers on all day. When there coughs and breathing got real bad i sat in the bathroom and steamed it up. The syeam helps a lot. That's what my doctor recommended.
