Hi! I'm a working mom and currently out of town for a couple days. My 7 month old DD has recently had a couple days of not eating so well - she is FF and we are attempting to get her onto a regular baby food schedule, although it's been a little spotty. She was rejecting bottles on Friday but seemed to get better over the weekend, then yesterday again she didn't eat much, and again today. So I had DH take her to the doctor today and it turns out she has a 100 degree fever! The doctor checked ears, throat, etc and thinks she may have a cold - nothing else seemed to be a problem. She doesn't act sick other than not eating; she isn't fussy and she was sleeping well (a lot actually) so it never occurred to me she was really sick. She has gained no weight over the last 3.5 weeks which has never happened before. I feel so terrible because she has probably been sick for a couple days, because she isn't eating and I'm worried about that, and because I'm stuck here in Virginia instead of being home with her. I'm feeling sorry for myself and for her and just generally awful. Can anyone help me get some perspective???
Re: Could use some empathy re sick baby
We've been there, DS was sick so much between Feb and April that his weight dropped from 70% to 8%, now he's back up to 20%.
Last time he didn't eat was due to an ulcer in his throat, he would only eat cold things like yougrt or apple sauce.
Sending him to school vs being home definately has its benefits, whenever he gets the sniffles now his immune system is actually working and it doesn't escalate to a fever so much anymore.
Is your DS with DH? 1st time i went on a business trip my DS got sick too, i got over it, just focus on what you need to do while you are away.
Definitely could be teeth.
DD finally started eating like her normal self (30 oz formula + mush for b'fast, lunch, & dinner) yesterday after not eating (15 oz formula + yogurt only for dinner) for over a week. She lost a bit of weight between her sick baby appt last Monday and her 9 mo well baby appt last Thursday. Doc was unconcerned, as she's still a healthy weight. She had an ear infection first, then her 5th tooth popped through.
Try not to beat yourself up. They're oftentimes little mysteries, and figuring out what's going on can be a huge guessing game.
