How do you clean your toddler's potty? I know its kind of a dumb question. Dump it in the toilet, then use a few disinfecting wipes to clean the seat & bowl? Can those go in the toilet too, or in the garbage?

We're not potty training yet so I don't havea answer, but most disposable wipes (like Clorox and Lysol wipes) are not flushable. They don't break down like toilet paper, and will clog your pipes. Check the package - it should say if they are disposable or not.
I dump in the toilet and use wipes to clean it. Luckily, DD only uses her potty chair for #1. For #2 - she requests the "big potty" as she calls it (our normal toilet with a child insert). I am not sure how/why she does this, but I am so glad she does!
And no the disinfectant wipes can't go in the toilet. And on a related note - if you are on a septic - never flush baby wipes down the toilet either. (I am not sure if those ok if you aren't on a septic, I just know first hand it's a no-no if you ARE on a septic system).

For pee we just squirt some soap in and rinse it out. For poop, I rinse with soap Nd water and then use disinfectant spray and wipe it off with a wet paper towel. I also spray it with bathroom cleaner when I clean our toilet.
I realize I'm overthinking this. But to clarify, you rinse in the bathroom sink? Or in the tub? I don't think our bathroom sink is big enough to rinse the little potty bowl. I'm also a total butterfingers and drop something (makeup brush, tweezers) in the sink on a regular basis, so cross-contamination worries me a bit - I can just see pink-eye spreading in our house in a flash!
And thanks for the other posts on not flushing wipes. Totally makes sense. I just need to think logistics through. I forsee my dog stealing dirty wipes out of the bathroom trash can, just for the fun of it. Fortunately, the potty I bought has an attachment that goes right on the big toilet, so maybe the little potty phase won't last that long (not that we've even started yet!)

I keep a spray bottle (big size one you can get from Target/Home Depot) with a mixture of vinegar water in it. We cloth diaper, so we also have a diaper sprayer (it's attached to the water in the toilet). With both of those, I will spray off the nasties as best as I can. since it's only vinegar water, i just leave the bottle there since it is non-toxic. Wipe down with a bunch of toilet paper and do another once over if i feel like it. If i get an especially nasty one downstairs (where I don't have the sprayer), I will take it upstairs to spray it down.
When I was at my parent's visiting, i just used a pitcher and filled with water to wash it all out in the toilet. Then wiped it down with whatever cleaning solution.
DD is excited to sit on the toilet now, so it makes things a lot easier.

I could see this happening with our dog too. easiest thing I can think to do is to get one of those mini trash cans where you have to step on the pedal to open it. Will help keep the smell in and the dog out

I throw the wipes on the trash, not sure how well they'd break down in the toilet.
Whenever she does a poop, I fill the potty with hot water from the sink then dump it down the toilet, then wipes.
