We lived in a 2 bedroom condo until last summer so we didn't need a baby monitor for our first two. Now we live in a house so we need to get one this time around. TIA for any tips!

Angelcare. I LOVE it and recommend it to everyone. I have the regular one but would buy the video one if I hadn't gotten this one from a friend. I LOVE the monitor!
I got a DropCam and I love it! It does everything the best baby monitors do and it still has a purpose after the baby. It can be used as a regular security camera so I don't feel like I'm throwing away hundreds of dollars on something I'll only use for a short time.
We have the Motorola video monitor and have no complaints. The picture quality is really good compared to some of the other monitors I've seen. Not sure if this is standard for all monitors but ours came with 2 cameras which I thought was helpful because we set one up in the nursery and the other in our room were the bassinet was so we could lay him down in either place and still keep an eye on him when we were downstairs.

I have the same, I love that you can talk to them, this will come in handy when they're older. Plus it tells you the temp in the room among other things. Highly recommend.
I have the Summer Infant touch and love it. Our house is over 3600sq ft and I've only found that it doesn't reach when I go outside. You can also add cameras to it. The night vision is cool too, but reminds me of the movie, "Paranormal Activity" and scares me! ;-)
We used to use a Graco Vibe (or something like that) when my DD was a baby. It's a simple audio monitor and always did the job.
Now we use the Motorola video monitor and love it! All the PPs who have them mentioned the things I like about it already. It's definitely spendy, but also high quality.
