Jerky McJerkpants.

...That title sounds a lot dirtier than it is, going back and reading it, lmao.

Anyway, I feel like a jerk because I sort of just went off on DD1.

I declared it naptime for both kids after spending over two hours cradling DD2 in my lap, her poor bum exposed after being smeared in Aquaphor, and keeping a cool compress on it and the fan blowing on it.  That was no easy feat because she didn't exactly want to stay tummy-down, no matter how cushy I made my lap with pillows, and I didn't really want to get peed on or get greasy Aquaphor on my clothes.  Meanwhile, DD1 was keeping her sister active by playing with her, which I generally like, but it was just making her more wiggly.  They were both very tired, but I didn't want to put DD1 in her crib because she was scratching herself silly before I got hold of her and I was afraid that if I put her down to sleep she'd scratch herself raw by the end of her nap.

Ultimately, I just couldn't handle the two of them as overtired as they were.  DD1 was getting into things in my room, making a mess, squeezing herself into nooks and crannies and then knocking things over when she tried to squeeze back out.  DD2 kept throwing her pacifier and kicking/smacking my computer, nearly knocking it down several times.  So I put them both in their beds and walked away.  Ten minutes later, all was quiet.  I went into the kitchen to grab a snack and DD1 heard me and yelled across the house to ask if she could get up.  She woke up DD2, who promptly started screeching.  I may have gone off a bit and told DD1 that no, she was not getting up, especially not after waking her sister up, that I'd let her know when it was time to get up and, for PETE'S SAKE, she needed to learn how to be QUIET when her sister was sleeping(!!!), etc.

That's about the time DD1 started screeching.

Re: Jerky McJerkpants.

  • It's the pits when they wake up a younger sibling, isn't it? There's seriously nothing worse! When I've lost my cool it's almost always about this same thing.

She will get over it and hopefully she will think before screaming and waking up her sister next time. Does that sound harsh?

Well if that was harsh, then add me to Team Harsh Mom.
