Hello!
My husband and I will be moving to Pittsburgh later this year and wanted to get some info on good kid/family-friendly Catholic churches in the area. A google search didn't help out much so I thought I'd post here.
I'm not sure yet which area of Pittsburgh we'll be moving to (perhaps the Brentwood or surrounding area) but we don't mind driving a little ways for the "perfect" church.
Do any of you have recommendations on Catholic churches in the area that are really family friendly? I don't just mean that they have a Cry Room, but actively encourage you to bring babies and small children to mass.
Thanks in advance!
Sherry
Re: Family-Friendly Catholic Church
I am not a member at St. Bede's, but I live in Shadyside so I sometimes go there. It's technically located in Squirrel- it definitely seems very family and children-oriented! It's a very active church.
This is a great post!!
I know that you requested Catholic, but I'm going to throw this in there just in case anyone is interested - we attend an Orthodox Christian church, St. Nicholas in Homestead. We don't have a cry room, but we have kids and babies all over the place in church, and our priest is GREAT with the kids! He goes out of his way to make new parents feel comfortable bringing their noisy little ones to liturgy, and will often say something nice during a sermon directly to some struggling parent to let the whole congregation know that it's OK, and babies belong in church! We also have a great Sunday School program that starts at age 2 - my daughter loves it!
