Bennett or Crosby

Bennett was our boy name for Baby #1 (had a girl, Eden Elizabeth), and I'm starting to hear it become more common. We have an extremely common last name so that is deterring me a bit.

Other current favorite - Crosby. So...

I like them both. How common is the name in your particular area? It can vary. I have a fairly common name but didn't run into any growing up until we moved to a different town. Also on the plus side I think Bennett works great with your sibset. I like Crosby because people don't use it much but it has still been around a long time. It also has so many great musical references. If music plays a big role in your family it would be a great fit & way to honor some classics.

I like Crosby, but it makes me think of Sydney Crosby (which is a good thing). Bennet seems to be really popular.

I'm usually not into random surnames as first names, but as they go, Bennett is kind of nice. Crosby is very much NMS.

I like Bennett better. But the initials are less than ideal. If you went with Crosby, there is potential for CJ for an initials nickname.

I think that I'd choose Bennett, because I can't picture Crosby as anything else but a surname (and there are, of course, the inevitable associations of Bing Crosby and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young).

Neither is really unique - Bennett was predicted by Freakonomics years ago to be a top 10 name in the 2010's and it's skyrocketing.

They are both part of the "random other people's last name for first name" trend.

These are the EXACT two names my husband and I were debating on! I love both so much, I think we will ultimately go with Bennett if this one is a boy, because DH has the same first initial, but I still LOVE Crosby!
