Biking with Baby

For those of you that are cyclists, what do you recommend for taking baby with you: bike seat or trailer?  Why? Thanks!

I'm not a serious cyclist, but we ride all over on weekends and my husband commutes with my daughter both days.  The ibert was a great seat for about 1-2.5 years (for a big kid).  She's now 35+ lbs and tall, and so we had to switch her to a rear mounted seat (actually got a cargo bike to accommodate second kid and groceries).  I know some love trailers, but we like the convenience and security of just having one piece.
