Hi ladies- I'm new to the VBAC board and the topic all together. When I got pregnant with #2 I just assumed I'd have a RCS. DS#1 was born at 9 1/2 lbs with a head in the 100% percentile. A C/S was recommended the first time around and I'm thankful it worked out.
This time I'm not entirely sure if a RCS or a VBAC is right for me. I'm open to the idea, but I don't feel very educated. Are there resources out there to help me decide? I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow and was going to bring up whether this is something they will support.
Any additional questions I should ask?
Sorry for the total newbie post. Maybe I missed a good thread that answered all my questions
Re: Questions to ask OB about VBAC
Things to ask:
1) Does the OB/practice support VBACs? (if the answer is no it will save you from asking the rest unless you opt to switch doctors)
2) Given your previous history, would you be a good candidate for a VBAC?
3) What is OB's policy on:
- Letting you go into labor on your own?
- Deciding when to induce you?
- How long you are permitted to labor for at hospital? And/or at home?
- Would you be able to walk around during labor, or would you be confined to the bed for strict monitoring?
- How many hours will you be permitted to labor?
4) What would be the most likely scenarios (as specific to my case as possible) that would cut my VBAC experience short and be cause for an RCS? (As in, failure to progress after X amount of hours, ''big'' head becoming stuck, suspected rupture, etc)
