My doctor just put me on a dairy free diet so I can continue to breast feed my daughter. Any suggestion or tips? I'm nervous as dairy is in everything!
Love, love, love the godairyfree website!!! I checked all the food in the pantry and gave away what I couldn't have to my family. It gave a list of things that were dairy free, I just double checked real quick when I hit the grocery store. I also take and extra 5 minutes to check a few of my fav brands for dairy, that way I'm not spending all day there. I do a little at a time.
Plus the website gave me links to restaurants allergen websites. I looked through a few of my fav places for when I was on the go and picked 1-2 things I could have.
Oh, I also forgot a mention, you can use almond milk in place of regular milk in a recipe. I would just use a little less. I've noticed that the almond milk goes further than the cows milk.
Re: Help! I need advice for a dairy free diet
substitude dairy with either coconut milk or almond milk (make sure he's not reacting to them either).
What are your favorite foods? maybe we can help you figure out a way to alter it.
Cook at home as much as possible
visit vegan restaurants (they are dairy free)
avoid caisein and whey also b/c they are made from cows milk protein
you can still make pancakes, baked goods, and all other yummy stuff. Just takes time and research. if you need help with recipes -we have plenty.
