Trying to Get Pregnant

Getting pregnant.

Stopped taking birth control January 1st, had a normal period on the 15th of January. I normally have normal periods even before birth control but a 1 week before my period was due I had light pink spotting for one day, wasn't even enough for a panty liner. I took 2 hpt and they both was negative, I'm now almost two weeks late and still nothing. Are my periods just messed up from stopping birth control or could I be pregnant?

Re: Getting pregnant.

  • It may take your body some time to regulate when you come off BCPs. I know it took me a few months. My cycles were longer than they were when I was on BCPs. If the HPTs were negative, then you're not pregnant right now.

ETA: No, but seriously, you are probably still regulating from BCP.

Your body is likely just trying to regulate itself.

  • If the pregnancy tests "was" both negative, then you are probably not pregnant and your body is just regulating itself after being on birth control for a while.

  • I stopped BCP and didn't even get my first period for a whole month later, then had a long cycle and then three very short cycles. Your body takes time to regulate itself after hormonal pills have been doing that for it for however long. And negative tests mean not pregnant.

  • It can take a while for your cycles to get back to normal after BC. I started charting my BBT the day after I got off my BC just so I can have a better idea of when I ovulate. I would suggest trying that also
