I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I applied 3 years. Rejected the first year, interviews the last 2. I declined my interview this year because we moved out of the cities, and I'm a SAHM now. Maybe later in life I will try again.
All the way up until I was about 16 I also wanted to be a vet. Then I changed my mind to nursing. Now I'm an RN, soon to be finished with my MSN. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like had I become a vet but I'm also happy with my current job.
A vet, but then I realized I didn't want to go to school that long or pay a quarter of a million dollars+ for an education so I went the vet tech route. I've been a tech for 10 years and the clinic's Practice Manager since 2010. I love my job, my clients and of course my patients. I'm a very science driven and hands on person, I really think I'd be happy in any medical role.
I really wanted to be a marine biologist growing up and then a psychologist. I didn't want to do research in a lab so I went to law school instead. I've been an attorney for 3 years now but I think i'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
I wanted to be a journalist. I did recently get my BA in Communications, but have yet to do anything with it. At this point I would most like to stay at home with our kiddo. Which I will be doing part time when the time comes :-)
Re: GTKY: what did you want to be...
Now I'm in marketing research and strategy for a large retailer. Love it!
