Need some honest advice Memphis for a boy?

What do you think of Memphis...I love that it is different.  But I don't want my kid to get teased : )

I wouldn't use it, unless maybe you have ties to Memphis?  And even then, I would stick it in the MN spot.  Sorry.

To be honest, I don't like it at all (fine for a pet but not a person).  Sorry!  In general, I'm not a fan of "place/city" names.  What other names do you like?

Does it have some special meaning for you?

It's not really my style, and it will be murder for a toddler to pronounce, but *shrug*. I like it better than the Bentley/Brantley/Braxton/Brekken names that seem to be the hot new thing for little boys.

I also dislike place names on people.  More importantly, though, have you ever been to Memphis?  It's not a nice place.  In 2007, it was the most violent city in America.  Crime, drugs, poverty...that's just not a good association for a kid.  Sure, there's the ancient Egypt connection, but that'll be a distant second connection for people, if at all.

But I agree with the rest...place names are NMS.

I like some "place names" (Charlotte, Austin), but dislike others... And this is definitely one that I dislike. I just can't be convinced its a name for a person.

I think of Memphis Raines which I believe was from Gone in 60 Seconds....car thief.  Not the best association.

If you like it, go for it, but my opinion on place names is, Ancient no longer in existance places, fine, currently extant cities, people will assume that is where your kid was conceived.

I honestly dislike place names on people...and this is most definitely one of those.

It's NMS but I think it sounds slightly feminine probably because so many place names start unisex or boyish and drift towards girly: Dakota, London, Brooklyn etc

My cousin's DS is Memphis. Definitely NMS but now it's just his name and it does suit him.
