OMG - DEmbryo related!!! YAY!

Yesterday, DH and I took the day off work and drove up to NY for our long awaited meeting with another fertility clinic. We had been scheduled for a 2-hour meeting with the Donor Team, and a 1 hour meeting with the RE. We are currently on two donor embryo program waiting lists locally in PA, but the wait period is some time between 12-18 months, possibly longer. DH is 46, I'm 39, we've been undergoing IF treatment on and off for 5 years, I've hit my breaking point a few times, and honestly we just feel we don't want to wait much longer, at least not another 12-18 months on these other two lists!

We weren't sure what we'd be talking to the donor team for two hours about, but were looking forward to the meeting regardless. They were amazing, we also love the doctor, and in the end we were sent home with FOUR, yes FOUR donor embryo profiles to take home, review, and choose from. We selected these four profiles from a stack of 18-20 that we were told they have available at any given time. We were amazed!

So, we think we have a front runner out of the four we took copies of to select from. We'll be doing all the monitoring locally, the doctor in NY knows my doctor down here very well. It sounds like we're looking at a May 2013 timeframe for thaw and transfer. OMG! I can't believe it. I would have waited for the DE/DEmbryo check in, but I am just too excited I couldn't wait!  Thanks!

SAIF/PAIF absolutely ALWAYS welcome to respond!

  • Thanks so much everyone. We are over the moon excited right now. And I promise, I'll definitely be more active in posting now that we actually have something to post about.

I'm pretty sure that every 15 minutes on the drive home, I would look at DH and scream "holy crap!!!" to which he'd laugh and say, "That's right sweetie, holy crap!!!"

Liz - congrats to you, I'm so excited for you! Best wishes!

  • That's wonderful news! Congrats to you and your DH!

Just out of curiosity where in PA are you located? I'm working on becoming an ED and seem to be getting the run around from the two agencies I am working with. It takes forever for them to get back to me and I don't know what my status is! Seems odd if there is so many people like yourself waiting that they wouldn't be more proactive.

    Thanks so much!

We are just outside of Philadelphia. Not every practice has a donor embryo program, and if they do it's likely not very old, and they haven't made it a habit to ask their IVF couples if they are interested in donating their extras when they are finished with their family.

  • I'm outside of Philly too! I'm not an IVF grad but blessed with 3 of my own and was looking to help other ladies be moms. Ive been trying to work with MainLine Fertility and Upenn fertility but both seem to put egg donation on the back burner :( I guess I just have to wait until they get around to me. I have all my paperwork in and just waiting for review but it's been almost 2 weeks! Too bad there isn't a way to do private egg donation like adoption because then I could be more in control but oh well. I'll just trust that this is the way it goes and they will get to me eventually!
