My husband took a contract in the area, and we'll be moving in to the Kansas side at the end of March. We're trying to decide on renting a house or townhouse in an apartment complex and was wondering if y'all had any recommendations. I have looked at houses in Overland Park area, but we will only be there 6 months and the only ones that take that short of a lease term seem pretty expensive. I looked online at townhouses at Bradford Point, and the Plaza at Overland Park. Anyone have experience with either of these? The Plaza looks like a good deal, but I was wondering about the area they are in.... Deer Creek looks nearby on the map. Also, are Lenexa and Shawnee nice areas? I have never been to KC, so I'm a little overwhelmed. Any advice y'all have would be very much appreciated!!
Re: Temporarily moving to the area-recommendations needed
I just have experience in the apartment/house part.. My husband and I had an apartment for a year in OP, then moved to Olathe to be close to the things we like to do.
I suggest starting by finding areas that would best fit your lifestyle. Johnson County has a lot of recreational options, that's why we love it. OP at around Metcalf and 135th-151st has some apartment complexes that are decently priced and they are really close to shopping, recreation, dining. We go downtown/to the plaza maybe once every month or two because it gets to be quite a drive after a while.
I don't know if you'll find anything other than an apartment for that short of time, then most of them you'll probably have to rent by month. You must go to 151st and Nall at A Wine Flights Bar and Bistro for some great food. They offer flights of wine, which are 3 2 ounce pours of the same kind of wine, from different vineyards (if you can follow that!!).
Good luck!
