I have a 14 mo old DD and have just started ttc #2. I have a Moby and Ergo sport, both of which I love. Originally I was thinking of getting a second Ergo so DH and I could both wear kiddos since we're pretty active in the warmer months (lots of walks and hikes) Lately I've seen lots of good things about the Becco Gemini. I thought this would be a good board to ask about baby wearing. Do any of you ladies use Becco and like/not like things about it? Thanks!
The best thing to do with buckle carriers is try them on - how they fit is the biggest thing in how well they work for a person, and that depends mostly on your own body shape and size. If you can find a local retailer or baby wearing group, that's really the only way to know if you'll like it more or less than an Ergo. Beco is a good brand and design, generally, though.
I'd agree that trying before you buy is ideal. If you are wanting to buy a second buckle carrier, I'd suggest buying one that's toddler sized to use with your toddler. The Ergo is pretty small bodied and the Beco even more so (the Gemini is really quite narrow). A larger bodied carrier will be more comfortable for your toddler in the long run as it will give better knee to knee support and have a higher back (preventing leaning which pulls on the wearer).
Action Baby Toddler, Kinderpack, Tula - those are a few that have larger bodies for buckle carriers. The standard size Kinderpack and Tula are actually quite a bit larger than the ergo - the toddler sizes are huge.
