Ok, this may sound ridiculous, but I wanted to get others' opinions/experience here, since I'm a little confused...
My son is just over 7 weeks, and usually his witching hours are from about 6-9pm (so he is usually very much awake and pretty cranky during these hours). He goes down for the night between 9 & 10pm. However, today he's been extremely passive, definitely more on the sleepy side, and napping really well (thus far, he's been a pretty fussy baby that fights naps like crazy, but I'm REALLY hoping this is finally his new formula doing him right and making him feel better, so he can finally be a happy, normal-demeanored baby!).
I guess my main question here, since I'm so used to him being so awake and cranky right now, is this: it's ok to just let him sleep if that's what he wants to do right now, right? I know it's sort of a stupid question - at 7 weeks old, I obviously should not be trying to set a nap/sleep schedule yet, correct? He's always been a good sleeper at night, so I'd really hate to sabotage his night sleeping with the napping he's done today!
Moms of babies around this age...what's their nap/sleep schedule like?
Re: When's your baby's last nap before bedtime?
My baby is a little older than yours, she'll be 13 weeks this week and she goes to bed between 8/8:30 pm, her last nap is right around 6, bath at 7 and then nurse at 7:30/7:45 pm. Sometimes she'll nap from 6-7 pm but that helps her go to bed when she does. Let your LO sleep when he wants right now, it gets easier to put them on a schedule!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I too am a firm believer of the "let a sleeping baby sleep" rule, but he ended up waking up on his own not long after I posted. So I ended up feeding him, changing him, and we played for a bit. I've heard a lot of info about the naps actually HELPING babies sleep longer, although, I will say, he's definitely not going down easy tonight, haha. Go figure!
I'm thinking tonight, we may have to hang on til around 9:45-10ish, give one more bottle and then maybe he'll go down for the night.
I will say her naps are shorter in the afternoon, and she's starting to sleep four hour stretches at night, instead of 2 or 3 hours. If she's napping though, we let her sleep!
Good luck!
my little one is almost identical to this!
DD has been sleeping through the night for the last 5 days, usually between 10pm-7am.
She's a little over 7 weeks old, and ever since she came home, we aimed for a bedtime anywhere between 9-11pm. I'm not really a fan of waking up before the sun does so we didn't want her going down too early. We also established a routine pretty early on- story, bath, feeding, and finally to sleep.
She seems to know what's up...Hopefully the last 5 days are an indication that the completely sleepless nights will soon be a thing of the past!
