  • I have it. Don't let me scare you. Seriously.

The placement hurt like sh!t. I could feel it when it went in. The pain was on my left side where my ovaries are. I actually yelled "ouch ouch ouch!"

It was sore like an aftershock all day. I had it done at 11am. I bled enough to need a pad, but by that night I didn't need one. I just put a thin panty liner on and barely spotted. I took 2 800mg Motrin over a 24 hour period.

The next day I had light cramps and since then I've been aok! I figure the pain I had was much less than my Csection recovery or contractions and I don't want to have either of those again! So its worth it.

  • Oh. I don't feel it now and my husband doesn't feel it either. Then again, I kind of tell him to hurry up so I don't know if I gave him time to feel it.

  • Placement was super uncomfortable for me, but not very painful (except for when she kept poking my uterus to see how deep it was OUCH!).  I could  feel it for a couple hours afterwards, but haven't felt it since.  DH can't feel it either.  I had some really weird irregular bleeding at first, but that stopped after 10ish days.  I've noticed I'm more prone to headaches, so I really have to stay on top of drinking my water.  Other than that, it's really no biggie

  • If your OB is good then placement is nbd. The first time I tried after DD it hurt like hell so I stopped her. This time I swas freaking out for no reason cuz the most uncomfortable thing was the darn duck bill thingy they put in you. Afterwards it wasn't too weird and now I barely even think aout it. DH doesn't feel it either. I love it! Plus it's perfect! We don't want to have another kid till DS is in school, so the 5 years this is in is perfect timing.

  • Mine hurt like hell and I have been bleeding ever since. But I still like it better than getting KU.

  • Just got back and I'm happy to report that it is as PP said if you have a good OB, it's no big deal. I made sure to breathe but all I really felt during the insertion were mild periodlike cramps. It's been 4 hours now and no bleeding. : wishing you the same experience

  • I just got mine Friday and, like PPs have said, placement wasn't a big deal.  This is my second time having it.  The first time was when DD was 8 years old, so it'd been awhile since I had a baby and it hurt like hell.  It was excruciating.

This time, I got it when DS was exactly 10 weeks and it wasn't bad at all.  A little uncomfortable but nowhere near the first time.  Some cramping then and the rest of the day, then I was fine on Saturday.

My doctor didn't cut the strings this time because the last time they were too short and I had to have it surgically removed.  We've DTD once so far and he said he couldn't feel them.

I love Mirena, as much as someone can love BC.  You don't feel it, don't have to think about it, and I ended up not having a period for 5 years.  Removal is supposed to be really easy, too.  I was just one of the rare cases and even then it wasn't so bad.  I got KU on the first cycle off of it, too.

  • I love the Mirena. It was great when I had it the first time and, other than the fact that I am still bleeding 5 weeks later, it's been great this time as well.

I didn't feel placement at all. In fact, I thought my MW was just starting to numb the area when she took her gloves off and said "all done!" I had a tiny bit of cramping after, but nothing Ibuprofen couldn't cover.

The strings on my first one were very short and MH or I could never feel them. I haven't tried feeling for them this time but DH did say he may have felt them when we DTD. They didn't hurt though, he just said he may have noticed them.

I almost passed out when I had mine put in. I had to stay at the office for 3 hours before my blood pressure went back to normal and still they wouldn't let me drive home. It was fine after that, i didnt get a period, didnt get ku and dh never felt it but I got it taken out because it gave me migraines.
