Mirena

I just finally got in for my 6 week PP check up, (two weeks late, oops!), and we decided to go with Mirena for BC. Although I didn't feel any discomfort during it being put in, I am not feeling some back pain that feels like my sciatic nerve. Anyone else get this? It was as soon as I left the office, and I hadn't felt it before at all, not since I was pregnant at least. I am not sure if I should be concerned really. Any advice is great!

Re: Mirena

  • No advice. Sorry. I'm getting one put in eventually, but my insurance won't pay for it. My ob is ordering it through a specialty pharmacy so I can make payments.

  • I recently got one just experiencing cramping and some bleeding.

Do you mind my asking if you had a vaginal birth or a c-section? I've had two c-sections and am getting my Mirena inserted next week.  I am definitely feeling nervous that it will hurt.  Thanks in advance.

Also, if the pain continues for more than a few days or intensifies, I would call the doctor.

  • Well I got pregnant on Mirena so you might wanna disregard my advice but it hurt like a lot of expletives when I had it put in and I had pretty bad back pain/cramps for the first week. I ate Ibuprofen like candy that week and it passed in a little over a week.

I had a vaginal delivery. I was terrified it would hurt, because I am still partially terrified of my whole "downstairs" after the shoulders on my LO, but it was just slight pressure during. I still have cramping today, but no more back pain. I read that taking ibuprofen prior to the visit helps with the cramping! Wish I would have thought of that before I got mine put in!
