If you had the freedom to schedule your CS any day of the week, would you go with begining of the week, like Monday or Tuesday, or later in the week like Thursday or Friday?
Well I had my first c-section 14 years ago and it was not scheduled it was actually an emergency and it was on a Thursday and it seemed as though everyone and there friends were delivering on the same date at the same time! This time because of scheduled because of BP issues and we are going in on a Tuesday~my OB said Tuesday's aren't that busy!lol and They don't schedule c-sections on Sat's & Sunday's at my hospital so durning the week it is!
Early in the week to avoid being in the hospital over the weekend. I think hospitals tend to have better coverage during the week, just in case an emergency would arise.
It's going to be up to if you want people visiting you up at the hospital or at home.
If you don't want a lot of visitors, perhaps on monday or tuesday and then people can visit you and baby that following weekend at your house. If you like visitors or your family wants to more easily come up to the hospital, do it on a Thursday or Friday.
Also, depends on your DH or SO's schedule.....My DH gets off the whole week of 4th of July (paid with no vacation needed to be used) and since I have to have a c/s, I wanted to schedule during that week if possible. My doctor said I could schedule at 39 weeks, which is July 3rd....so I'm doing it then to take most advantage of my DH free time off of work.
We originally scheduled it for a Thurs so DH could have off several days when we were home. DS had other plans and came early Sat morning. Like another poster mentioned, we had visitors all day Sat and Sunday which was exhausting but at least we were in the hospital and not at home.

This. I worked on the postpartum floor. Not only is coverage a bit better, but some of the hospital gift shops and eating options had modified weekend hours.

Thanks for the replies. Your answers confirmed how I felt, in one hand I want to have access to Dr in case of emergency so I think begining of the week would be better, on the other hand, we need to balance DH's time off.
Never on Friday. The LC's are limited. I had my son on a Wednesday but given the choice next time I would go Monday or Tuesday. That way family can help out on the weekend without taking an days off.

I had mine on a Sunday, and given the choice I think I would choose that day again if I should need another one in the future. There was something enjoyable about starting my week with the baby and my recovery, not to mention it seemed to be a rather quiet day on the mat floor so I was able to ask the nurses questions and they weren't in a rush to see all their patients. It made the learning curve great.
I scheduled mine for May 7th a Tuesday. My last one was a Thursday and I got to go home Saturday. I could have gone home on Friday but I spiked a temp. I need it to be during the week so that it will be easier for us to have someone take care of our older kids. My parents can get them off to school and go to work and be home before they get out of school. That's what works for us. Plus our hospital tends to be busier on the weekends.
Re: Scheduling- What day of the week?
