My husband and I are trying to figure out names for our LO (didn't find out the gender) and have been struggling. We had a girl and boy name picked out before we conceived and are now second guessing what we picked. We told only one friend the girl name and it wasn't received well. We like names that are uncommon, but not too strange where they can't be pronounced or spelled. We liked Contessa (Tessa) Rose for a girl and Jackson David (JD) for a boy (I know Jackson is pretty common, but we are looking to keep JD). I am really looking for open and honest feedback on the names as well as suggestions on other options.

I actually like just Tessa Rose instead of Contessa but both are nice.
Jackson David sounds really nice together (jd).

Is the second guessing based on you falling out of love with the names, or are you just worried about reactions to Contessa?
If you still love it, just use it. I don't really like title names (Duke, King, Princess, etc.), but Contessa sounds pretty. And Tessa is nice. If you are getting nervous, you might consider just using Tessa or using a more conventional name like Teresa/Theresa. That's still way less popular than Jackson, but will be more familiar than Contessa.
I can't imagine many people having a big problem with Jackson David, other than, as you say, it's a bit on the popular side.

Agreed and prepare for side eyes from some people no matter what you name your child. You can't please everyone so trust what you and your DH go with and stick to your guns. It is your baby.
I don't like title names. What about Theresa Rose nn. Tessa.
Jackson David is fine.
I hear you. DH and I don't care how common Olivia's name is but I hope it doesn't bother her as she grows up. So far, we haven't met any other Olivias in our area, so we'll see.
I have an unusual name that my parents loved and I hated it growing up because no one could ever spell or pronounce it. I love it now. Kids go through stages. Name yours a name you love and hope LO loves it too.
I don't love Contessa, but I like that it's different, and I do adore the NN Tessa.
Jackson is really popular now, so if you are looking for something uncommon, this would not be the name to pick.

Don't let that keep you from choosing the name you like. I hated my name until I was a teenager. As an adult, I love it. Like someone else had said, kids go through stages.
Contessa isn't my style, but I think Tessa Rose has an adorable ring to it.
I like Contessa! Different but not trendy or silly.
Jackson David is ok, I'm not a huge fan of Jackson but only because it's NMS, there's nothing wrong with it.
